At the Hofer, people meet on equal footing. Open, friendly, down-to-earth. You immediately sense that nothing here is fake, but rather genuine and honest: how we deal with each other. In the way host Kathrin runs the place. In the connection to nature. And in the small decisions that have a big impact.
For us, being a host doesnât mean guessing what someone wants. It means listening. Being there when needed. And sometimes giving space.
We believe in simplicity – not because we want to take the easy way out, but because itâs often exactly what does us good: an honest chat, a good tip for the day, a small moment that sticks with you.
What matters to us?
Appreciation. For people. For nature. For what is here. And for the small things that often make a holiday special.
*Valles dialect for âIt doesnât all have to be perfect. But if we are being honest, that would be quite nice!â
When youâre a guest at the Hofer, you meet people who are authentic. Who get stuck in, listen, think ahead – and see hosting not as a duty, but as a joy.
Much in the house revolves around Kathrin. Sheâs the host – is open, down-to-earth, communicative. Always up for a chat, with a fine instinct for whatâs needed in the moment. Not perfectly choreographed, but personal.
Kathrin is supported by her parents: mum adds loving touches in the kitchen, and âTataâ is wherever heâs needed. And because the Hofer is more than just a house to many in the family, the rest often stop by – children, partners, siblings, aunts and uncles.
Maybe thatâs why you feel welcome here right away.
Because itâs not a business. Itâs a home.
What we do, we do with respect – for nature, the region and people.
Likely founded during the Bavarian settlement, the Hofer is one of the oldest farms in the valley.
First documented mention as âcuria ze hoveâ â a solitary farm in a proud location.
As a property of the Counts of Rodengo, the Hofer was a large, self-sufficient estate with high dues – from cheese and meat to grain.
The farmers gained freedom from feudal obligations – an important step toward self-determination.
Kathrinâs great-grandparents take over the farm – the start of the Hofer story in family hands.
The first guests arrive – Kathrinâs grandparents become hosts.
Each year, the Hofer hosts youth groups from southern Germany.
Extension with a public bar and restaurant.
First major renovation of the house.
Kathrinâs parents take over – with plenty of heart and a feel for the spirit of the place.
Kathrin becomes host – with a clear mindset: less is more. Guests should feel free here, feel at ease, not just be a number. Thatâs why thereâs no swimming pool (and no strawberries in winter), but instead real nature, genuine hospitality and the wonderful feeling of having arrived.
